The Air Jordan 5 is one of the most popular models in the entire Jordan Brand catalogue, a fact no doubt fuelled by desirable colourways and mythical Player Exclusives. Straddling both merits is this upcoming ‘Aqua’ variety that’ll add drip to any sneaker collection. And the place to cop this drop is JD Sports Australia.
Beginning with black brushed uppers reminiscent of the ‘Black Metallic’ OG, this colourway switches up red accents for the namesake ‘Aqua’ and some warm orange. In fact, it seems this specific combo is a passing reference to some adjacent signature Jordan models, but the reflective tongue, ice sole and lace toggles remind sneakerheads this is the AJ5 through and through.
However, there’s also a bit of lore behind this particular pair. Jordan Brand have been sliding unicorn Player Exclusive colourways to their athletes for decades, with many of these being subtle switch-ups of OG palettes. The AJ5 ‘Aqua’ is a perfect example of this – the only difference from its on-court ancestor is an embroidered numeral on the heel. TBH, this upcoming unmarked version is a lot cleaner!
