First Look: The KCDC x Nike SB Dunk High Releasing in 2021
Adding to the growing list of skate label collaborations for 2021, Nike SB link up with Brooklyn establishment KCDC for an eye-catching Dunk High colourway in celebration of the store’s 20th anniversary. It’s always reassuring to see the Swoosh’s skate division keeping things close to the culture, with this sneaker joining the Dunk projects alongside Color Skates, Carpet Company, Stingwater, FTC, and Quartersnacks.
Decked out in a pink suede base with a lighter shade of pink used on the overlays, the colour-blocking is balanced out with some black contrasting accents on the leather Swooshes, lining, laces, tongue labels, heel tabs, and midsole. Additionally, ‘KCDC 2001’ branding arrives on the tongues, while more logos are seen on the heel pull tabs. In another nice touch, there’s mismatching pink and green insoles decorated with playful graphics.
Founded by Amy Ellington, KCDC have always made a point of championing the mental health benefits of skateboarding’s inclusive nature. As a constant promoter of diversity in skateboarding, KCDC’s goals are to support and cultivate wellness for all women and NYC youths through continued events and programs that support the physical and mental health of skateboarders and the local community.
There’s no official release date yet, but the KCDC x Nike SB Dunk High should be dropping later this year at select skate shops.
