Nike Air Zoom Mercurial shoes have dropped – here’s where to get them

The Nike Air Zoom Mercurial boots are here – and they’re ready to take the football by storm.

Teased by the American manufacturer as “a new type of speed”, these are the shoes that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo will put on after the summer break. They’re great for attacking players, naturally, providing weightlessness like never before. There’s an iridescent sole which looks absolutely stunning – and the ‘AIR’ text incorporates the Mercurial logo which is a nice touch.

Simply put, they are already among the best football boots of 2022, following the latest Mercurial Dream Speed efforts that Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and others wore last season.

Either way, we’re big fans of the Mercurial shoes – which we gave an excellent review – with the Nike icon revered as one of the greatest shoes of all time. These new beauties draw on everything we love about this brand to create something so stunning.

As we noted when they were first released, the technology is stunning. There’s a new three-quarter length hinged “Zoom Air bag” on these, along with a newly designed Vaporposite+ upper, which features a “Speed Cage” design. Basically, they’re tighter, sleeker, and more durable than ever.

And now, they are available from Pro Direct (opens in a new tab), too. So which one do you get?

The Mercurial boots were pretty simple – but that was until they split into Steam (opens in a new tab) and the superfly (opens in a new tab). The Vapor is the classic (you might know the name): it’s the ones that don’t have ankle support. The Superfly has this ankle support.

We expect these to be popular at the Women’s Euros as well.

So, so… where do these new Mercurials rank in the pantheon of all-time Nike football boots?
