Nike’s ISPA (Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt) arm stands at the forefront of experimental sneaker design. Their focus on crafting eco-conscious, ultra-tactile silhouettes has birthed weirdly-wonderful models such as the Link, Drifter, and Universal. With wayward design sensibilities, Nike’s ISPA line can sometimes stray from being easily wearable, with some models acting almost like art pieces. And their latest, Mindbody ‘Barely Volt’, is exactly that!
The Nike ISPA Mindbody was first seen in November, and the iteration looks to use natural materials, so the sneaker breaks down quicker at the end of its lifespan. For the ‘Barely Volt’ iteration, Team Swoosh opted for a bright upper, contrasted by dirt-like black patterns reaching the midsole. Constructed primarily in Flyknit, the shoe’s midsole and body seem to be stitched or attached via a string that also connects to the laces.
