Overkill x adidas Consortium Releasing the ZX 10.000 C 'I CAN IF I WANT'
Berlin sneaker stalwarts Overkill are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic four-digit ZX series with the special collaborative adidas ZX 10.000 C ‘I CAN IF I WANT’. Inspired by the vibrant graffiti and hedonistic techno cubs of 90s Berlin, the Consortium release carries the unmistakable ZX DNA. In addition, Jacques Chassaing, who was decisively involved in the development of the ZX series in the 1980s, contributed valuable tips and ideas to conceive the final design.
The upper of the ZX is combined with a Cushion sole, as used for the Equipment series, resulting in a coming together of two different concepts that shaped adidas in the 90s. For the colours, Overkill used the four-digit ZX models as their muse, selecting the most recognisable colourways and combining them for a stunning ode to the famed OGs.
Encompassing the attitude of the 90s Torsion slogan ‘I WANT, I CAN’, the ‘I CAN IF I WANT’ release is a tongue-in-cheek nod to what makes this collaboration special. Going all out in true Overkill style, every pair sold will come with an additional single shoe in a completely different colourway (the singular shoe is picked at random and could be left or right). All three shoes will come housed in one oversized box, held in the design of the OG 90s ZX boxes. Match ‘em up or go mismatch — what you do with the third shoe is up to you!
The Overkill x adidas Consortium ZX 10.000 C ‘I CAN IF I WANT’ releases on February 9 in the multimedia exhibition nineties.berlin at the Alte Münze. In the meantime, be sure to check out our look inside Overkill’s curated ‘Sneakers of the Nineties’ collection from the nineties.berlin exhibition.
