COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS Nike Air Max 97 Release

Nike has an impressive list of partners when it comes to product collaborations, but few have as rich a history with the brand as COMME des GARÇONS. Together, the duo have teamed up with silhouettes like the Air Max Sunder, Eagle, Air Foamposite One and more, and now the two prints are reconnecting to roll out an Air Max 97 collection.

For this project, Rei Kawakubo was inspired by the nomadic way of life which consists of living freely by oneself and not feeling obliged to belong somewhere. As a result, she opted to remix the Christian Tresser-designed silhouette with a pre-worn aesthetic to lean into the on-the-go lifestyle. If you take a look at the upper halves of each pair, you’ll notice the mudguard and overlays appear with a weathered construction. CDG branding is used in small amounts, appearing only on shoe inserts where it is surrounded by Swoosh badges. Two colorways are involved in this launch, the first of which adopts a stealthier “Black” theme while the other is fashioned with a “Glacier Grey” palette.

Interested in copping? The COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Max 97 is set to release on September 22 via Dover Street Market globally for US$350 each.

In other news, the Nike Air Max Scorpion has been unveiled.
