NIKE extends NFF contract and opens mega-store in Lagos

A Renowned kit manufacturer, NIKE, has extended its contractual agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until December 2026.

NFF chairman Amaju Melvin Pinnick said on Thursday negotiations had been ongoing for a month before the American foot and body wear giant agreed to extend its relationship with Nigeria Football.

“We discussed several areas that they needed to look at and we finally got an agreement and a contract extension until December 2026. I give credit to the members of the NFF executive committee and the general secretary. The new agreement gives credence to NIKE’s faith in Nigerian football and what we do as a federation. This is a wake-up call for our other sponsors and partners to extend their agreements and for more Corporate Nigeria players to support the Nigerian game.

“We were also successful in getting our partners Nigerian Breweries PLC to extend their contract with the NFF for another year. Originally, their relationship with the NFF was supposed to end this year. We talked and met several times, and eventually they agreed to extend for a year, after which they will conduct a relationship review.

Meanwhile, kit giants NIKE officially opened their mega-store in Lagos on Thursday. The impressive office is located in the sprawling Ikeja Mall, in the heart of one of the city’s main business districts. The mega-store is the first of major outlets planned on Lagos Island and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
