adidas Sportswear Officially Launched
News on this release was first published February 2, 2023.
Update February 3, 2023: adidas have officially announced a brand new label for the first time in 50 years: adidas Sportswear. Introduced to complement adidas’ Performance and Originals labels, the new line sits somewhere in between and encapsulates the notion of ‘sport worn for style’. As such, the pieces employ performance tech throughout, designed for everyday wear. Take a first look at the Spring/Summer 2023 collection fronted by Jenna Ortega, which includes items like the Tiro Suit tracksuit, jersey, dress, BOOST-fuelled AVRYN shoes and more. adidas Sportswear will launch on February 9 worldwide, with early access via the adidas app on February 2.
Actress Jenna Ortega is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars of the moment, shooting to superstardom following her lead role as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday series, and, of course, that viral ‘Goo Goo Muck’ moment, which basically blew up the internet.
Since then, Ortega has been enjoying her time in the sun attending various fashion shows and events – each time decked out in luxury fashion. It was only a matter of time before a major sponsorship deal came her way. Now that time has finally come, as adidas announce Ortega as the newest member of their growing roster of changemakers. Not only is Ortega joining adidas to represent the brand, but she’s actually going to become the face of an all-new adi label.
The label is still yet to be announced – but adidas note that this is coming soon. In the meantime, Ortega has shared an official statement on the news. She said, ‘My love for adidas is one that goes back years. It’s always had such a presence in sport, music and culture and continues to be an innovator in so many ways. Growing up, for me, it always had to be adidas sneakers and tees as the go-to. To this day, so much of my wardrobe is made up of the iconic three stripes. I feel so honored to become a part of this legendary family of changemakers and be the face of its all-new label. Can’t wait to show you guys.’
You can expect the first drop from the range to include both apparel and footwear. Keep it locked to SF for further updates.
