The Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Jackie Robinson’ Is On-Deck
Nike are continuing to honour the one and only Jackie Robinson, paying homage once again with an upcoming Nike Air Force 1 Low, expected to drop later this spring. Previously, the Swoosh’s tributes to the Hall of Famer known for breaking the colour barrier have included a Nike Air Max Griffey, which dropped in 2021 and Nike Dunk Low and a Nike Air Griffey 1 Cleat that released in 2022.
This Air Force 1 takes after the Brooklyn Dodgers’ home jersey with smooth cream leather on the base and tumbled grey leather on the mudguard and lace overlays. Dodgers blue accents the sneaker on the tongue, Swoosh, and heel tab. The Brooklyn ‘B’ has been stitched onto the tongue, and a red 42 appears on the heel – honouring Jackie’s number – alongside red baseball stitching on the heel stripe.
Bronze is utilised on the eyelets as well as the lace dubraes, which also feature the year ‘1947’, denoting when Robinson got called up to the majors and broke baseball’s colour barrier. The year ‘1956’ also features, signifying Robinson’s retirement. The gum midsole is speckled with black, while the outsole features a chain link pattern in honour of the right field wall once seen at Ebbets Field.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Jackie Robinson’ is expected to drop sometime around mid-April for Jackie Robinson Day via SNKRS and at select retailers. Keep it locked to SF for all updates as they surface.
