Mixed Materials Decorate the Nike Air Max 1
Nike have no reservations when it comes to using crazy colours and patterns, especially on the Air Max 1. Hot on the heels of the recent ‘Great Indoors’ edition is another women’s colourway that makes maximum use of every panel to exhibit a different textile and pattern.
It’s difficult to look at each section of these shoes in isolation because there’s simply a lot going on. The mudguard is pastel blue corduroy, reminiscent of the upcoming ‘Baltic Blue’ AM1 that employs the same material. Pastels continue on nearly every other part of this pair, from the dusty pink suede mid-panel and green forefoot strip. The heels are honey gold, prefacing the leopard pattern ankle collar just above. There’s a bit more of the yellow bullion shade on the midsoles. Rounding out the busy scheme is silky fabric on the toe box, plus pale yellow laces and tiger stripe insoles. Black Swooshes and outsoles offer perhaps the only conventional features of this colourway. All in all, these out-there AM1s will definitely make a notable blip in the model’s catalogue and perhaps even earn a place as one of the best women’s colourways one day.
